It seems that the rumor mill is working on overtime churning out more Halo 3 speculations. Here’s another one from the 7th Columnist: custom armor types.

Reportedly, the 7th Columnist guys scoured through the Halo 3 beta source codes and found “customization options for multiplayer characters” that a lot of players would find interesting. According to the report, there will be different models other than Spartan and Elite. There will also be other customization options than just color and emblem changes.

They found four different types of armor for Spartan multiplayer: Cobra, Intruder, Ninja, and Regulator. They reported that these armor types are basically “in parts” – think action figures that have parts that are sold separately. They spotted helmets, left and right shoulders, and body parts. They concluded that players would be able to mix and match the different armor types to build their own custom Spartan.

This is not limited to the Spartan models and is applicable to the Elite as well. Elites would have fewer choices between the Predator, Raptor, and the default armor.

For now, we’ll put this in the rumors folder while we wait for confirmation from Bungie.
