EastEnders game under development by Eidos Interactive? - Image 1Rumor has it that Eidos has gotten their hands on a popular British TV series as basis for an upcoming game project. The report goes that the developer has bought the rights for the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) EastEnders soap opera series, which has been on the air since 1985.

One other detail that’s been noted is that this title is under development by Edios’ casual games division responsible for development on DS handhelds and mobile, although a company spokesman has said they (Eidos) won’t comment based on a rumor.

As a recap, EastEnders tells the story of the residents of (the fictional) Albert Square, located in the borough of Walford in London‘s East End. And while no specific genre has been touched on this upcoming title, word is (according to MCVUK) that it might turn out to be a Sims-style game.
