Rumor: PlayStation Network cards being readied for US and Europe?

North America and Europe getting PSN cards soon? - Image 1Is Asia’s coveted PlayStation Network card readying for its proverbial journey to the west? PS3 owners are reporting that they’ve spotted a new option for PSN’s transaction management section that may indicate this. The new option has also been spotted on Europe’s PSN accounts.

Sony hasn’t made any statements regarding this, but we imagine non-credit card holders will find this news to be a most interesting proposition. Visit the full article for more details regarding this topic.

Is Sony finally taking the first steps to ready their PlayStation Network Card for distribution among the territories of North America and Europe? This appears to the case, based on an info snippet we’re picking up via the NeoGAF forums, where member TTP stated that a new option was available for PSN’s account management section after the network’s latest update. Here’s the screenshot of the new option:

TTP further stated that the same option was also available for PSN Europe members. The other thread posters further confirmed that the option was new – it wasn’t spotted last week. For those asking, the PSN card works similarly to Wii points, or the Xbox 360’s Microsoft points, in allowing PS3 owners to purchase online credits to buy items on the PlayStation Store.

PSN currently accepts credit cards, although the possible introduction of the PSN card will be a godsend for those without a (or have an incompatible) credit card. We’ll let you know if any new information regarding this speculation turns up.
