Rumor: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles to have two-player co-op?

Cover of Official Nintendo Magazine UK #17 - Image 1It’s a bit of a slow news day, so let’s go for some rumors. A new rumor that Capcom‘s upcoming Wii title Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles will feature two-player co-op has surfaced thanks to the presence of a CPU-controlled character that follows the player in the game.

According to CVG, the 17th issue of Official Nintendo Magazine UK lists some details on the new on-rails shooter including the aforementioned CPU-controlled character. Most of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is apparently played in co-op with the CPU-controlled character, leading to thoughts that maybe, just maybe, two-player co-op will be an available feature in the final game.

Capcom has neither denied nor confirmed any possibility of a two-player mode.

The magazine also got the dirt on a few more details regarding the game, including highly destructible environments that yield hidden items and guns which can be picked up by pointing at them and pressing A. Players can also make their own routes by blowing stuff up with huge-ass weapons — say, for example, shotgunning a locked door to smithereens.

The characters in the game — Chris, Jill, Carlos Oliveira, Rebecca Chambers, Billy Coen, Albert Wesker, Leon Kennedy and Clair Redfield — will also have their own signature moves, executed by pointing at nearby enemies and pressing A.
