Rumor: Super Mario Galaxy pre-orders hit 400,000 mark?

Rumors have been floating around that Super Mario Galaxy pre-orders have already hit the 400,000 mark. This information allegedly comes from employees working at GameStop/EB Games. Aside from the tip GoNintendo received on this, they did a little checking of their own and came up with the same numbers.

While this isn’t an official release by Nintendo, it could very well be a good measure of how successful this game will be when it does come out. If this rumor proves to be true, Nintendo may have yet another hit on their hands. After all, with the success of most of their franchises and consoles, it would be pretty hard to believe that their flagship IP wouldn’t be cashing in as well.

Super Mario Galaxy is slated for a November 12 release in the US and November 1 in Japan. Perhaps we’ll be getting an official announcement regarding how this game sold after that.
