Rumor: Wii Out By October?

The screenie that started it all.

Just recently, a certain advertisement for the game Red Steel has caught the eye of a lot of Wii-watchers out there. It wasn’t really the game that caught their attention, but rather, the announced release date of the game – which is October 26th of this year. Considering that this title is rumored as a Wii launch title, we can only guess as to how many hearts beat a little faster after reading this.

The source of this information is Family Video, the largest privately-owned video rental chain in the United States, which also sells DVD movies and video games. This tiny little line on their website has caused much talk within the gaming community as many are beginning to wonder if Nintendo is planning to give Sony the one-up (pun intended) by releasing Wii maybe just a week or a few days earlier than Playstation 3, which is scheduled for public consumption this November…just as Wii was supposed to be. But can there be a change of plans?

Though there have been numerous predictions for the past few months if Wii will be released by October or not, one can’t be too sure just yet. Again, these are mere speculations that have been derived from a screenshot — but then again, there have been many who were quick to state that Family Video has always been right on the money with the release dates that they post.

As spectators in the Battle of the Consoles grip the edge of their seats, whether Wii manages to sneak up on the PS3 will remain to be seen.
