Sega Sammy sells 5.75 million video game in six months
This just in from our Overachiever Department. Japanese arcade games specialist Sega Sammy is not having a bad year.
In fact, the company merrily reported a 52% increase in profits from hardware and software sales between April and September 2006 compared to the same period last year. In case you want that in figures, that will be 38 billion yen (or about 321 million US dollars).
Although most of the cash came from the company’s slot machine and arcade business, its global video game software sales were quite spectacular: 5.75 million units (1.76 million in Japan, 1.59 million in Europe, 2.36 in the US, 30,000 elsewhere).
Among the company’s games are Super Monkey Ball Adventure for DS and Wii. (There’s also Charlotte’s Web and others for the DS). There’s Football Manager 2006 for the Xbox 360 and Chromehounds, Armored Core 4, and Phantasy Star Universe and more. For the PSP they have Full Auto 2: Battlelines, Sonic Rivals, and then some. For the PS3 there’s Armored Core 4 and Virtua Fighter 5 and more. And for the PC you have a bunch of Total War titles and more.
Looks like Christmas started early over at Sega Sammy.
