Hollywood actor William Shatner has just confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Captain Kirk in the Xbox 360 game, Star Trek: Legacy.

He has told reporters that he “got a little territorial” as he apparently couldn’t imagine anyone else playing the role of Kirk, even if just as the voice behind the character.

Star Trek: Legacy, a production of Mad Doc Software and Bethesda Softworks is scheduled to come out later this year. Shatner has also expressed that he likes the game as it keeps “true to the characters the best they can and having an interesting story that branches, I think a game can bring a freshness to a franchise like Star Trek”.

Many Star Trek fans are also looking forward to this game, not just because of the promised graphics that will be made possible by the 360, but also because veteran Star Trek writer DC Fontana had collaborated on the scripts, thereby promising authenticity to the faithful fans.

Though not a video game enthusiast, Shatner has revealed that he will be taking tutorials from his grandson so that he can play the game that he will star in.
