Sign up at MyNintendo, protect your Wii, get VC coverage too

More than enough said.

It pays to make Nintendo aware of your investment called the Wii, it seems. Registering your Wii at MyNintendo automatically entitles you to an extended warranty, as well as tracking the status of your console-under-repair (let’s just say it proved useful after a certain error code popped up in some peoples’ Wiis). But MyNintendo doesn’t stop there.

According to Play-Nintendo, registration also protects your Virtual Console games. The service tracks the VC titles registered Wii owners download, and Nintendo has stated that they would be “instating” (installing? initiating?) ways to allow users to redownload their purchased titles should their precious Wii become… irrecoverable.

There’s also the potential for bonus and exclusives for MyNintendo members. In previous gens, registering Nintendo titles entitled MyNintendo (and Club Nintendo, for that matter) members to freebies and tie-ins. No word from Nintendo if this gen will also enjoy such bennies.
