One of the hardest things that fans of a series have to do is to wait patiently for the next installment to come out.  That being the case, it helps if the developer of the game takes the time to reassure players that progress on the game is being made.

For David Seymour, Slant Six Games Design Director, one way to do it is with new screenshots of SOCOM: Confrontation for the PlayStation 3. According to Seymour, the picture on the left above is an OTS camera shot of Crossroads.

The said map is actually the most fan-requested SOCOM: Confrontation map. Seymour describes it as follows:

This is the right in front of the SEAL spawn, looking down the street in the direction of the warehouse.

The commando in the upper right is aiming a M87ELR, and his teammate by the tree is wielding a G36-C. The mercenary charging up the street is firing with an F90.

The second picture on the right above shows the remains of a shopping center standing on a brand new map from Slant Six Games. Fans and gun aficionados will be able to identify various firearms such as an M60-E3, an AK-47, an USAS-12, and a SASR sniper rifle (which will be useful in a sniping spot such as this one).

Seymour also mentioned this new map “has a 16 player core area and an expanded footprint for 32 player matches.” If you’re still hungering for information from Slant Six Games, worry not, as Seymour has mentioned that more news regarding SOCOM: Confrontation will be revealed in the May issue of EGM magazine.

In the meantime, a little more patient waiting is in order.
