Solar Eclipse To Occur Wednesday, 29 March

People of Central Asia, Turkey and parts of Africa will have an opportunity to observe a total eclipse of the Sun this Wednesday beginning at 09:44 Greenwich Time. The Sun’s umbral shadow will first appear off the eastern tip of Brazil. From there, the path of the total eclipse will pass over West Africa, northeast across the Sahara, and through Turkey and the Central Asian republics before ending in Mongolia around sunset (see illustration).

For those of you who are unable to travel to the regions where the total eclipse will be visible, the Turkish government has put up an English-language website that will feature a live webcast of the event.
