Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is definitely off to Hollywood! Sony’s hell-bent on bringing Nathan Drake’s action-packed treasure-hunting adventure to the big screen that they’ve already met with director David O. Russell to get things going.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Sony approached the director regarding his potential work for the movie, but that there are in fact several other directors that the company is considering for the job. The report describes it as “the meeting stage, and not close to the dealmaking one.”
Other tidbits about the Uncharted movie would be that the script would be penned by Thomas Dean Donelly and Joushua Oppenheimer (“Sahara”, the new “Conan the Barbarian”), and that they’re setting their eyes on a summer 2011 release.
David O. Russell’s filmography includes Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees, Flirting with Disaster, Spanking the Monkey, and the upcoming The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.
