Sony Denies PS3’s EU 499 – 599 Price Tag
Blame it on the accent or one too many escargot. Sony Computer Entertainment (France) Le’ Boss Georges Fornay’s statement made on French radio regarding the PS3’s pricing have been “mistranslated or misunderstood” according to Sony. When Fornay mentioned that the PS3 would be between 499 to 599 Euro, he was actually referring to the relative value of PS3 as a Bluray Disc player.
“Mr Fornay explained that, with BD and HD functionality, PS3 at this price would be cheap for such functionality, but that current video games machines were significantly below this price,”
said Sony Spin Director. “At no time did he suggest or indicate a specific price point or price range for PS3, and any reports that he did so are incorrect.”
