Sony‘s video game consoles are still riding high sales-wise. The financial results for Sony’s fourth quarter has revealed increase in hardware and software sales for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

Most of Sony’s software sales came from the PS3 side, which showed a remarkable jump of 4.36 million units. On the hardware front, PSP sales increased by 4.36 million units and PS3 sales by 5.63 million units.

The company’s operating losses also decreased by Â¥107.8 billion (US$ 1.02 billion) from last year. A large part of the company’s gains in this area was attributed to the decrease in the operating losses for the PS3, which in turn was due to lowered production costs.
