Sony selling PS3 for US$ 974 in Mexico

Well, yeah, Sony gets another bright idea, so this time around, they decided that it would probably be okay to try to sell the 20GB PS3 for the equivalent of US$ 974 in a country where the average citizen can barely get on with what they’re currently earning from their jobs.

That’s right, you heard us correctly. Sony is currently parading the 20GB PS3 model in front of the poor Mexican masses for the amount of 10,495 Mexican pesos, which roughly translates to almost a thousand US dollars. This would therefore mean that the only people who would be able to purchase a PS3 in that country would be those who are filthy rich to begin with. However, this also means that the average consumer will most probably be left just dreaming of owning one.

Why Sony decided to do this completely eludes us, and at this rate, then we wouldn’t be too surprised if even more pinatas are found in Mexico, or if Wiimotes just completely take over.
