Sony to Drop SWG?

Star Wars GalaxiesKotaku tells us there’s a definite chance that Sony Online Entertainment’s star-crossed Star Wars Galaxies franchise may soon be sold to another company.  Lucas Arts isn’t extending its Star War license, and some of the head honchos at SOE’s office have left for greener pastures (Raph Koster, formerly chief creative officer, has supposedly left to start up a new game studio, and Cindy Armstrong, formerly head of Business Development, is now with Webzen).

The various changes instituted by SOE in the MMORPG version of SWG have been received poorly by many gamers and critics.  Those plus the bugs that’ve been cropping up have been giving the game a poor reputation, which has heavily impacted gamer participation.  It’s not surprising, then, that Sony’s supposedly considering pulling the plug on SWG.  What’ll  happen next, Sony?
