Sony to finally provide cross-game voice chat

PlayStation Plus subscribers may call any member logged into PSN, whether they’re fellow Plus folks or not. Yes, if you want to start voice chat with another player online, you’ll have to cough up. Receiving a voice chat invitation from a subscriber will cost you nothing.

The feature supports up to four players in a party chat, at least one of which must be a Plus subscriber. Doesn’t matter if you’re all playing different games, it’s cross game voice chat. Once all subscribers disconnect from a party chat, party’s over.

At some point, we all speculated Sony would put a price on voice chat, especially with the talks on premium PSN services the last few months. On the bright side, it’s not limited only to the Plus subscribers. So if you’ve got spend-friends who’ll be calling you up all the time, no biggie.
