Sony trademarks “PlayStation Arc” in Japan

Sony’s motion wand has gone without a name since its E3 demo, but with the latest trademark spotted by Siliconera, it appears we’re finally closing in on a name. As the filing would have it, Sony has trademarked “PlayStation Arc” in Japan.

 

 

 

Sony’s motion wand has gone without a name since its E3 demo, but with the latest trademark spotted by Siliconera, it appears we’re finally closing in on a name. As the filing would have it, Sony has trademarked “PlayStation Arc” in Japan.

 

Through the long stretch of the name-finding, we’ve seen three single-syllable names for the motion controller. “Sphere” was heard back in TGS 09, then it was “Gem”, but after that was all debunked, things are now pointing to Arc.

 

Hopefully this time, Sony would have mercy on bloggers all over that have to re-tag all those PS3 motion controller posts.
