Sony’s DevStation event casts spotlight on Home

PlayStation Home - Image 1At Sony Europe‘s DevStation event held in London last week, the spotlight was without a doubt focused on Sony’s PlayStation Home service. According to Gamasutra, many of the talks given during the three-day developer-focused conference concentrated on Sony’s plans for Home features and support.

“With Home, we are having to manage a much more sophisticated business and that’s exciting and pioneering,” said Michael Denny, VP of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, Europe. “It’s great to be given the opportunity at DevStation to stand up and inspire our valued third party partners to join us.” Denny keynoted the DevStation event.

Home is slated to go live in the fall and is now in its closed beta phase. Some publishers have also expressed interest in being launch partners, and developers will be getting the first generation of Home content creation tools later this month. While much of the core technology development is still being carried out by Sony’s London studio, Home Platform teams have been set up in Europe, America and Japan to focus local efforts.
