Soul Calibur 4 director on gameplay elements, Vader and Yoda

Darth Vader as a guest character in Soul Calibur 4 - Image 1Still wondering why Namco Bandai has decided to include both Master Yoda and Darth Vader in Soul Calibur 4? Wonder no more, as Director Katsutoshi Sasaki has answered that as well as several other questions thrown at him during a recent interview, all available after the jump.

Last time, Soul Calibur 4 (PS3, Xbox 360) director Katsutoshi Sasaki talked about Hilde and the returning characters in Soul Calibur 4. In a more recent interview, however, Sasaki-san chose to focus more on the strategic gameplay elements and the guest stars of the latest installment in Namco Bandai‘s Soul Calibur series.

For example, Sasaki talked about other ways to win a match besides gradually wearing down your opponent’s health in Soul Calibur 4. There are the ring outs, of course, but Sasaki also mentioned a system that will help Soul Calibur 4 players who may be having trouble with the game, as well as “other ways” to win which he didn’t elaborate on.

Regarding Namco Bandai‘s inclusion of Yoda and Darth Vader in Soul Calibur 4, Sasaki defended the move, saying that Soul Calibur 4 is being developed for the players, and that the development team’s intention in including the extra characters was to give players what they wanted.

Katsutoshi Sasaki also commented on a variety of other topics, such as the ring outs and the rumored instant kills in Soul Calibur 4, respectively. If you’d like to view the full interview, just check out the video below:
