Sovereign Symphonies Waiting for Xbox 360 and PS3 Licenses

Sovereign Symphony

Ceidot Studios, a (previously) little-known Turkish software company, revealed Sovereign Symphony during the Leipzig Games Convention. The game is an RPG with a strong RTS (Real Time Strategy) twist. It was announced for the PC, but it looks like Ceidot is also considering it for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. So, is it or isn’t it?

According to an article by Sergio Giannone over at XboxWay, “Potentially yes, it is true.” The problem is Ceidot needs to have a license and devkit from Microsoft, but because they’re an unknown game development studio, it’ll be hard to get a license for next-gen consoles. The good news is if a go-ahead comes from Microsoft, it will be easy to make an Xbox 360 version of the game because their technical substructure and technology partners (Gamebryo, Ageia, Speedtree, Miles, etc.) are all cross-platform ones.

So there you have it. You wait. Our opinion? The game’s not set to be out until 2008, so there’s plenty of time for Ceidot to prove itself to the next-gen consoles. Like the man said in the movie “Field of Dreams,” “If the game turns out great, then Microsoft and Sony will probably send over a devkit each” – or something to that effect.
