Spore, My Sims, soon to scatter onto DS Lites everywhere

Electronic Arts - Image 1DS owners will soon have even more reasons to be happy about, as two promising titles will be added to the already expansive library of Nintendo’s little handheld. During Electronic Arts‘ recent financial earnings presentation, EA CEO Larry Probst has confirmed that the PC title Spore, as well as the Wii version of the Sims will be headed for the DS. For those who may not be familiar with those two titles, a recap may be in order.

Spore is a game designed by the man behind The Sims series, Will Wright. Unlike The Sims though, Spore falls into the “god-game” category, as players will have to start out with a single-celled organism, and then rear it over the millennia until it evolves into more complex creatures and beings. After that, it’s then a matter of guiding civilization from the primeval, to the futuristic. Meanwhile, The Sims Wii, or My Sims (or Boku to Sim no Machi, for the nitpicky), still runs along the same principle as the Sims that we are already familiar with. The only difference is that EA Japan has reworked it and completely transformed it by giving it the “chibi-anime” look.

EA is yet to disclose details on how a complicated game such as Spore can be played on the DS, since the handheld only has a limited set of controls. The company also has not mentioned any clue on when we could expect these new DS titles. However, considering its previous announcements that Spore would be available by late 2007, we may risk a guess that the DS versions could be around by mid-2008.
