Spyro flying over to the big screen

Spyro - Image 1Following the trend of other video games going to the big screen (such as Castlevania), Sierra Entertainment‘s diminutive purple dragon Spyro may be hitting the movies as well.

Variety has recently reported that The Animation Pictures Co. managed to get the rights to create a Spyro 3D animation film based on the Spyro game franchise, similar to the likes of currently popular CGI animation movies such as Shrek.

The planned Spyro movie will get a top-notch movie treatment, with Dr. Doolittle’s Steve and Dan Altiere as script writers. As for voice actors, considering that the game already had a high profile cast (such as Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman), it’s not a far-fetched guess that the movie will have the same star-studded voice cast.

The director is yet to be hired and the release date yet to be revealed, but you can be sure that we’ll keep you posted. More updates to come!
