Suda51: No More Heroes isn’t too violent

Suda: No More Heroes isn't too violent - Image 1Director of Grasshopper Manufacture‘s No More Heroes Goichi Suda (Suda51) spoke about his game and the violent content it supposedly contains pointing out that while it would have its share of violence, it wouldn’t be as heavy as Manhunt 2‘s (Wii, PSP, PS2).

Video game violence in the gaming industry has always been considered a very hot topic. However, ever since the Adults Only rating was given to Manhunt 2 and constant pressure from gaming activists, the concern regarding this has reached an all-time high.

Suda pointed out that the current gaming industry atmosphere was never a problem in designing the game. Here’s what they said in a recent interview with Siliconera:

IÂ’m sorry IÂ’m making everyone worry so much about No More Heroes. I didnÂ’t worry about it. ItÂ’s a violent game, but itÂ’s not a really violent game like Manhunt. It has cartoon-like violence so we arenÂ’t concerned with the level of violence. If you compare it to Manhunt 2 then we lose. Manhunt 2 will feel more violent then us with its gore effects.

So while we can expect the same gritty cartoon violence that we saw in Suda’s American debut Killer7, it probably won’t be causing a controversy. In case you want to pick this game up, No More Heroes is expected to be out by December 6 this year in Japan, and February next year in the U.S.
