TGS 2007: Ikaruga XBLA screenshots

It’s been a while since the videogame community inhaled a collective gasp of awe as the legendary space shoot-em-up from Treasure, Ikaruga, was announced to be an Xbox Live Arcade downloadable title. With awesome visuals, a strong soundtrack and an unforgiving difficulty that kept gamers coming back for more, it was the killer app as far as blowing things up in style was concerned. We see this in eye candy form in this screenshot update of Ikaruga from TGS 2007.

Looking at the screenshots, it seems that the polarity-shifting gameplay is still there, with bosses and enemy ships spouting both black and white projectiles at you. Ikaruga‘s co-op feature looks to be intact as well, which should be good news for those of us looking for some intense head-to-head action that only a Treasure shooter can deliver.

Ikaruga is certainly a welcome addition to the many titles of the XBLA library – and frankly, it’s been a long time coming. Here’s to more Treasure shooters making its way to next-gen consoles!
