The Chronicles of Spellborn project update

the glaive dungeon

Look how fast the days pass… It was like yesterday when we we’re telling you about a beta giveaway for The Chronicles of Spellborn and now the second closed beta phase just ended. Anyway, let’s talk about what’s the latest with TCoS. While the QA people of Spellborn NV are busy gathering feedback from the concluded beta, the development department has their hands full on finalizing most of the game’s features (the tournament and guild system).

It seems that they are going to have a hard time meeting the Q1 2007 release as they are planning on holding the last close beta phase in early Q1 2007.  The team behind it is simply taking all the time it needs for it to be close to perfection. In this quest to perfection they have discovered some issues that they are  fixing. They are:

  • Some of the factions like The Brotherhood of the Glaive, were missing proper placement and aspiration. What they did was create additional content that aims to give more depth to these factions.
    • The new content includes low level dungeon system in the Deadspell Storm (the home of The Brotherhood of the Glaive).
    • Deadspell Storm is now a more integral part of the game thanks to more areas within the storm that players can explore and visit.
  • Character models are updated with new face for all humans.
  • Upgraded spell effects
  • Enhancement to the combat system for the purpose of animation blending.
  • Interface would also experience a major revamp. This new interface is going to be used as soon as all features are finalized and meshed into the game.

Lotsa work for the team, huh? It doesn’t stop there. After the last closed beta, they are going to prepare for the open beta and then the inevitable release. As for the final date for the open beta and the game’s mass release, that would depend on the feedback during the last closed beta. We’ll give you more updates as they trickle in the coming days.
