The Emmy Award PR that never was
And so it has been settled: Sony did not win an Emmy for its SIXAXIS. They did win still, however, for their DualShock controller. At any rate, we’re sending our accolades for a job well done. Don’t worry guys, the PS3 is still young anyway. It wouldn’t be a big surprise if it wins a handful later along the way.
With all that jazz said and out of the way, did you know that this mess up was really, well, a mess up on the organizers part? We mean, Sony was misinformed and as proof is the attached press release they prepared for the award. It even has SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton‘s statement included:
The overwhelming consumer demand and critical acclaim for PS3 is a testament of the platform’s strength and the industry’s desire for a true next-generation entertainment system. The full potential of this powerful machine has yet to be realized. What you’ve seen so far is just a taste of what will be on the table for 2007 and years to come.
Oh well, it could have been a good press release. Anyway, as we’ve said, PS3’s defining moment will come in time. We’ll just have to keep this release until that moment happens.
