The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass to have voice chat? Maybe not.

Weekly Famitsu scan from ZU - Image 1A scan from the latest Weekly Famitsu sent shockwaves when a crude translation in Zelda Universe indicated that The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass might have actual voice chat features. As far as we can find, official sources still have not commented on this, so another site, The Hylia, recently decided to toss the scan to a Japanese reader among their number.

The verdict: translation misinterpretation. Mentioned by that Hylia member,

I’ve read the whole article and it doesn’t mention anything about chat. I think someone misunderstood the “tsuushin” part in the purple rectangle, which literally means communication or correspondence, but in this case it means “by”, or “via”.

Natch. The difficulty of translating foreign sources. Anyway, Phantom Hourglass will already be the first time a Zelda title carries online gaming. Well, translations being translations… While the Read link will lead you to The Hylia (being more recent), the original Famitsu scan that sparked this comes from Zelda Universe (being what started it) – well, your Japanese up to scratch, reader?
