The Sims celebrates 10th year anniversary

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the well-loved The Sims franchise from Electronic Arts. As part of the celebration, EA sent out a press release disclosing impressive sums of profits in sales throughout the lifetime of the game.

 

 

 

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the well-loved The Sims franchise from Electronic Arts. As part of the celebration, EA sent out a press release disclosing impressive sums of profits in sales throughout the lifetime of the game.

 

 

So far, since it launched a decade ago, The Sims has sold some 125 million units for the PC alone. If you add in the numbers for the console ports, then it’s obviously going to be more than that.

 

In all, the franchise has generated some US$ 2.5 billion in revenue for the publisher, with the latest iteration, The Sims 3, selling 4.5 million copies so far. No wonder it’s been declared as the top-selling PC game of 2009.
