Don’t think that The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, which was supposed to be the console version of the PC RPG The Witcher, has been canned. Yes, production has halted, but it’s more a case of being put aside than total cancellation.

According to CD Projekt, there may still be a chance for the game to return at some point. Right now, it “remains suspended”, presumably while the developers polish up The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which is actually also coming to consoles. CD Projekt RED will be counting on Metropolis Software for help on the game’s console versions.

Speaking of the sequel, CD Projekt’s senior producer Thomas Gop recently asked gamers not to think of the leaked video as final:

The leaked movie merely shows some of the improvements we’ll be introducing, but there will be many more in the future. Most of the game’s true strengths remain unrevealed.
