Thirty-dollar Wii: dubious, but interesting
According to one story that’s making the rounds on Digg, one lucky and quick-thinking couple managed to snag a Wii for only US$ 30. If you’re thinking, “Shenanigans!” then trust when we say we feel the same. Still, entering a Wal-Mart and getting a manager to fess up to an oddly-priced Wii without resorting to violence deserves some recognition, just in case it’s true.
BrokenWear’s tale on the TribalWar forums states that he and his wife went to Wal-Mart to go and buy a Wii. They noticed, however, that Wii seemed to have been placed in the US$ 29.96 area. He says that when an item is sitting in the wrong spot in Wal-Mart, you can actually pick up the said item for the wrong price.
His story continues thus:
It was sitting in a US$ 29.96 price spot, and not just one of them. All 7 were in the wrong spot, so with a little quick thinking, i snapped a quick cellphone picture and had my wife call the home office. She called them and they called the store manager, and 20 minutes later we were leaving with a $30.00 Wii.
Some commenters on the original forum post were debating the truth behind this, especially since the receipt picture can’t be accessed at the moment. We ourselves can’t hold a copy of the pic, so if you’ve seen it, let us know. That being said, do you think it’s the truth, or a well-made lie?
