A recent shooting in Northern Illinois University by a 27-year old student named Stephen Kazmierczak brought another appearance by Jack Thompson on Fox News. In his statement, Thompson related the shooter’s actions to violent video games which he called “simulators.”

In this latest development, Thompson faxed a letter to NIU asking for the shooter’s history in playing violent video games. He ended the letter with a statement in what could be construed as a threat of a lawsuit should the documents not be provided:

Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request production of copies of all documents that reveal Steven KazmierczakÂ’s play of violent video games, including but not limited to the use of his computer to play Counter-Strike, which he apparently, according to the New York Post, used to rehearse for his ValentineÂ’s Day Massacre at NIU.

The killers in the two worst school massacres in history—in Erfurt, Germanay, and at Virginia Tech University—similarly trained on Counter-Strike to rehearse for their killing sprees.

If I am not provided with this information, I shall bring a civil action to secure these documents.

He also emailed this letter to GamePolitics, who then asked him if he really faxed this letter to NIU. Here is Thompson’s reply:

Of course I sent it to them, you idiot.

The NIU investigators have already responded, professionally, and told me they will get me this information in due time.  This is how you do this, which you wouldnÂ’t know.
