Three new peripherals for the Nintendo Wii: The Balance Board, the Zapper, and the Wheel
Earlier, we covered Nintendo’s E3 2007 Media Briefing that unveiled a lot of new stuff for the legendary game company’s console and handheld. Now, we go a bit more in-depth with three new peripherals for the Nintendo Wii, namely the Wii Zapper, the Wii Wheel, and the Wii Balance Board.
First up, the Wii Zapper. Touted to both evolve and revolutionize the way we play FPS games on the Wii, this quasi-shotgun looking firearm for the digital battleground lets us aim, fire and reload realistically. Simply dock the Wiimote on the front where the barrel should be, and the nunchuck on the handle, and you’re ready to mow down zombies and terrorists with a pull of the trigger. See the embed below for the controller in action.
Next is the Wii Wheel. We didn’t get to see this, but suffice to say it’s going to be the device to own come its simultaneous release with the highly-anticipated Mario Kart Wii. No luck on what sort of neat features it’s going to sport, but we’ll update you as soon as we catch wind of those.
Last but definitely not least is the Wii Balance Board, a completely new peripheral for the Wii. Imagine a much more sensitive dance pad that measures not only where you’re stepping, but also how hard. To be used in conjunction with Wii Fit, a fitness game for the Nintendo Wii, the Wii Balance Board will keep track of your movement, weight and center of gravity as you dance and work out your way to a healthier body.
With all this new stuff, Nintendo’s certainly on the right track. Updates as we get them, and in the meantime, enjoy the video!
