TIGA announces 2007 awards finalists

TIGA announces 2007 awards FinalistsThe Independent Game Developers Association (TIGA) has just announced the list of their finalists for the upcoming TIGA awards which is going to happen in London on January 30, 2008.

Two new categories were added to the roster list for this year’s awards. Finalists that are included can only win through the peer votes of TIGA members.

To celebrate the best of the best of last year, the Independent Game Developers Association (TIGA) has just released the list of finalists for their upcoming 2007 Awards. The event will be taking place in London on January 30, 2008.

In addition to the five constant categories for the awards, two new categories were added as well. “Best Technology” and “Best cross-media application of games” have been put to recognize efforts of the people.

In case you didn’t know TIGA is a trade association that represents business and commercial interests of games software developers in the UK and Europe. 90 of the 113 members are independent developers.

Without much ado, here’s the list of the finalists:

    • Championship Manager 2008: Dynamo Games
    • Sonic Jump: Airplay
    • Tomb Raider Anniversary: Finblade
  • Best Technology 2007
    • The EGO Engine: Codemasters
    • Super Rub a Dub Water Effect: Sumo Digital
    • Alice Server: Nice Tech
  • Best Cross Media Application of Games 2007
    • Realtime UK
    • Audiomotion
    • Triage Trainer: TruSim (Blitz Games)
  • Best Developer – Greatest Contribution to Independent Games Development During 2007 by TIGA Member
    • Blitz Games
    • Sumo Digital
    • Denki
  • Best Player – Greatest Individual Contribution to Independent Games Development During 2007

It seems like the competition is looking as tough as ever with the contenders for this year’s awards. With the names that have been released as finalists, Fred Hasson, CEO of TIGA commented:

Despite increased competition from studios in tax-break countries, we’re very proud of the outstanding work delivered by our members. These awards are won by and voted by our members and this kind of peer-to-peer recognition of excellence is the most sought after.
