The most info we had about the gun last time were just some pics and its physical specs but here Satsukawa gives us more details about its development and the functions of the two analog sticks.

Takashi Satsukawa, director of Time Crisis 4, recently posted an entry in the PlayStation blog relating the development of the Guncon 3, the gun (duh) peripheral that the game will be using. Check out our previous posts for more pics and early details on the gun.

Guncon 3 is probably the next inevitable step for the Time Crisis series, which didn’t allow free movement for the player. The designers of Time Crisis wanted a free-roaming environment this time around so they needed to implement a way for players to use the gun to move as well as shoot.

Hence the analog stick was born. But while this gave a solution to movement it only allowed for horizontal shooting. As Satsukawa relates, the game needed a way for players to aim their sights higher (or lower, wherever the enemy is).

Satsukawa leaves us with a teaser here saying that he’ll describe how the gun does this in his next post. If we had to guess, the second analog stick on the barrel of the gun will be the one controlling vertical direction.
