TinyWarz Xbox 360 Core contest

“To celebrate the end of 2006, TinyWarz is giving away an Xbox 360 to one lucky player. All you have to do to win is play.” That’s what the TinyWarz website says, and it sounds easy enough.

• From now until the end of December, every computer-controlled Bandit destroyed on any planet has a small chance of having an Xbox 360 Modification. If you find and destroy this Bandit then salvage the Xbox modification you’ll win an Xbox 360. Every bandit has an equal chance of having the Xbox modification (you cannot fail to salvage the Xbox mod).
• All players have a chance to win (U.S. and non-U.S. players), no purchase is required.
• Only one Xbox 360 Core System will be given away. Free shipping will be provided if the winner lives in the U.S. Non-U.S. residents may need to pay shipping charges.

When we heard about this, some of us were saying “What’s TinyWarz?” It’s an Internet browser game (that’s why this blog entry is cross-posted in the PC and Xbox 360 blogs). It’s actually quite addictive. The game is described as “Design Deploy Destroy: Massively Multiplayer Turn-Based Strategy”. It’s a web-based real-time strategy game, an MMO, where you design and modify vehicles, armies, and bases and battle it out in massively-multiplayer style.

And it’s real-time. You have a time limit to make your move, and you get rewards for moving before the time’s up. Games can last minutes or hours (depending on the set-up). The graphics aren’t killer, but it’s enjoyable – like Battleship, except it’s more strategy instead of chance.
