While we definitely don’t want World War III to happen, sometimes it’s scary to imagine what weapons will be around during that time. Tom Clancy‘s EndWar (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360) takes on that  task. Set in WWIII, the real-time strategy game from Ubisoft Shanghai will let us experience the edge of a man-made apocalypse – with full support for voice activation to boot.

In the game’s latest development blog, community developer Li C. Kuo gives us a first-hand glimpse of that future with two helicopter gunships for Tom Clancy’s EndWar. These are the Joint Strike Force’s AH-80 Blackfoot and the European Federation Enforcer Corps’ PAH-6 Cheetah (click all images for a higher resolution).

The AH-80 Blackfoot’s original design (above, left) had very similar features with the commonplace RAH-66 Comanche so the EndWar team decided to add some aspects of the Canard Rotor/Wing (CR/W) UAVs (above, right).

Not to be outdone, revisions were also made for the PAH-6 Cheetah (below, left) which looked like  the Eurocopter Tiger. In order to give it some futuristic spunk, the EndWar team ironically used the long-bodied helicopters from the 1980s TV show Airwolf as an inspiration. Well, that and some added turreted rocket pods did the job (below, right).
