Landmark week, Wii gamers! This week, Nintendo has released the first ever weekly update for the recently launched WiiWare service. Starting this week, we’ll keep you posted on the weekly update for both WiiWare and the Virtual Console.

Down to business. Or rather, games. First up is the Virtual Console game Skykid, which was originally released for the NES. Worth 500 Wii Points, Skykid is a side-scrolling game where the Red Baron is pitched against his rival, Blue Max.

For WiiWare, we’re getting two new games. First is Critter Round-Up, which is worth 1,000 Wii Points. Catch and corral the animals who have escaped from their enclosure. The game features 50 levels set anywhere from farmland to the Arctic.

The second game is Star Soldier R (check out the pictures above), worth 800 Wii Points. It’s a shoot-’em-up vertical-scrolling game set in space and kinda looks like Star Wars, especially with that Death Star-like thing in the background.
