Video: Surf’s Up tricks galore gameplay

Games based on movies have a solid reputation of being mediocre. While Ubisoft‘s Surf’s Up isn’t exactly stellar, it looks more exciting than what you’d expect from a half-hearted title released only to escort its counterpart on the silver screen.

Here’s a gameplay video of the surfing penguin busting a few cool moves. Everything looks shiny, the flashy effects are pretty cool, but it’s far from the real experience. From what we see, it’s more like skating on the same half pipe over and over than riding a wave. A little flip here and a spin there could amuse the casual gamer, but not someone looking for an actual game of the extreme sport.
