Video: Tomb Raider Anniversary developer diary 4

The developers of the popular Tomb Raider franchise have decided to put together a series of “developer diary” videos where they show sneak peeks of the upcoming Tomb Raider Anniversary game for the Nintendo Wii, Sony PSP, PS2, and PC platforms. We’ve shown you the first three installments of the vid series before, and now we’ve got the fourth one which discusses how the environmental and visual elements were inspired and put together. Have a look and listen in to what the makers have to say:

As you probably know by now, the developers are using an enhanced version of the Tomb Raider Legend game engine to breathe new life to the franchise. The game is inspired by the original Tomb Raider from 1996 and outs Lara Croft in a 2006 backdrop in a search for a relic known as the Scion. So far, the videos have been showing a lot of promise.

In addition to the enhanced presentation, the game offers plenty of new gameplay elements which converge with the originals style. There’s going to be a lot of moving and jumping, puzzle-solving and animal hide-bustin’ that would probably enrage activist animal rights groups. In any case, let’s hope for the best when the new and old Tomb Raider worlds collide.
