Videolamer proposes Shenmue 3 for the Wii

Videolamer.com, a site dedicated to churning out words from “people you don’t know on games you don’t care about” has an editorial up proposing that Sega should consider developing Shenmue 3 for Nintendo’s Wii.

Aside from the many obvious monetary opportunities presented by making the game for the Wii, jay, the author of the piece notes that the Wii could improve Shenmue gameplay as well. He hypothesizes on how a Wii control scheme could work with the game, and how the arcade mini-games in Shenmue could work with Nintendo’s virtual console.

Personally, given the history of Shenmue and what it did for the console it was launched, I’d really want to see the game be made for either of the two “high-def” consoles. Its cinematic nature just lends to the experience that the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 promotes. However, in support of the Wii, if the game does get made for it, it can serve as a means to prove that the Wii can still deliver a cinematic gaming experience.

Overall, jay’s piece is a very interesting read, regardless of your opinion of Shenmue. Feel free to head to the editorial via our “read” link below.
