We’ve already given you guys tons of goodies for Sega‘s upcoming Virtua Fighter 5 (Xbox360, PS3); you have the gameplay videos, we told you about the Quest mode, the screens, and of course, the much-celebrated news that the game has gone gold.

So what else could we possibly be bringing you this time around that you don’t already know? Well, for starters, did you know that the game will have a mode that won’t be playable? Oh yes, it. won’t. be. playable. But before you go throw a hissy fit about this mode’s non-playability, hear us out. This mode that we’re talking about is the VF.TV mode, where players will be able to watch saved content from matches through a variety of options.

  • Exhibition Match – contains a number of gameplay options ranging from the most basic one-on-one fights to group brawls. This is where you’ll be able to really exploit the game’s customization features in terms of the fighter roster and accessories.
  • “Button Entry display” – you can turn this on or off from the Pause menu during replay. This feature displays what button entries the player made during a given fight (thus giving you a chance to “study” those wicked combos).
  • “Movie Theater” – there are four types of movies included in this, but two of them are not “movies” per se, but demos rendered in real time. These demos were actually adopted in the very first arcade version of VF5. Players will also be able to swap costumes during the demo.

Murayama from the VF5 dev team says, “Of course, getting this costume trick to work is somewhat hush-hush. Here’s a clue — create the data of that character first and customize it as you like in advance — regarding the rest, try finding them.” Intrigued? Don’t worry, we’ll keep you posted for more details.
