Vista not about graphics but growth -Levine

vista games - Image 1Windows Vista and DirectX 10 graphics tools aren’t about making visuals more eye-popping than ever. It’s about making things easier for the average consumer, says Ken Levine, lead developer of BioShock.

Levine stressed in an interview with Eurogamer that what the new Microsoft OS does for the PC gaming community is that it sparks a “growing up” phase for the industry by allowing gamers to install, play and understand games easier than ever.

Levine expressed his excitement about the new features found in the OS that will allow buyers to see how the games they want will run in their systems and how the “game explorer” utility will allow games to be more easily organized. “The new rating system for system requirements is going to go a long way to broaden our market. PC gaming needs to grow up in this regard, and Vista is a great start,” says the respected developer.

Aside from those functions, online gaming fans will now enjoy the full privileges of Microsoft game fans because of the Xbox Live‘s PC version called “Games for Windows Live” where players cam interact, download demos, buy games and battle it out in multiplayer skirmishes.

Games for Windows Live launches in Europe on March 18. Start up those PC’s and experience just what Levine is talking about.
