Warhammer Online - Image 1It’s no rocket science to figure out that developing something of epic scale such as Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is difficult especially when you have fans to satisfy, but EA Mythic wants to assure everyone that hard work is being put into addressing most issues MMORPGs encounter. In a recent interview, the devs talked about respecs, managing the population, and mastery paths among all things.

When asked about how tactics and moral abilities will be treated since they’ll be available most of the time, EA Mythic told WarCry it’s possible to re-spec or reconfigure previously purchased tactics and abilities that fall together under certain masteries.

The Mastery system offers players various paths to help them define their roles. As example, EA Mythic made mention of these lines for damage-dealing spellcasters like the Sorceress and Bright Wizard:

  • Direct Damage – Focuses on really high, single-target damage
  • DoT/Debuffs – Focuses on dealing damage over time & reducing enemies resistance to attack
  • Area Effect – Focuses on dealing lower damage over a larger area & number of enemies

“Core tactics and morale abilities, along with those received from the Tome, are automatically granted via unlocks,” said EA Mythic, so you won’t you have to worry about a good portion of those – you just have to decide what to carry.

On keeping the population of an MMORPG with multiple factions stable, EA Mythic reassured “this is definitely something we think about on a daily basis.” There was also a mention of mounts being nothing more than a form of travel in the game, as well as a visual status symbol of player achievement.
