Wasted screen space on Halo 3 multiplayer ruins experience for some gamers

Halo 3 - Image 1If you own a 16:9 screen and value your screen space (or just plain suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder), then heads up: the multiplayer mode in Halo 3 doesn’t make full use of screen space, leaving unsightly blank margins on the side and barring some players from fully appreciating the game’s HD-rendered backdrops.

Four-player games will NOT leave margins, but having less than four players participating in the multiplayer mode will. A two-player game will make use of a 2.7:1 aspect ratio for both screens, while a three-player game will have the top window using a 2.7:1 frame, with the other two taking up the usual 1.77:1 ratio.

Many gamers have complained about the margins in Halo 3 multiplayer modes, but as long as it does nothing to hurt the game, it shouldn’t be that bad. Will Bungie Studios do something to fix this issue? Check this space often to find out.
