Watch the first footage of SSX Blur

Snowboarding is one of “teh” hottest sports to ever hit the slopes, so to speak. And even though I’m the clumsiest guy you’d ever meet (seriously, I somehow manage to trip myself by just standing), snowboarding video games hold a special place in my heart. It allows me to do something that my messed-up coordination skills wouldn’t ever allow me to do.

While we’re at it, why not go beyond snowboarding and get on with all the tricks? With ramps, rails, and other assorted objects, the slopes in the SSX franchise has brought gamers the thrill of the Winter sport. After four titles in the series, EA Sports BIG is gearing up for its next release, SSX Blur.

The same SSX concept is still here: do all the tricks you can while sliding down the slope to build up your meter. But of course, the new thing that it brings into the franchise is the integration of the Wiimote‘s motion sensing advantages. Not much is still known about the game or if it will still feature Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach as SSX on Tour did for the GameCube. Soundtrack-wise, we don’t know which previous artists will make a reappearance on this fifth title or if there would be new ones.

Regardless, here’s the first footage we get for the game and it’s looking mighty fine. As the title suggests, the edges of the screen actually do get blurry when you go fast enough. And hey! It’s Reggie!
