What if: God of War III was an FPS?

God of War III - Image 1He’s bad-ass, he’s brutal, he just looks sick from every angle – and he can strike from any angle, too. That’s Kratos for you. But if God of War III art director, Ken Feldman, had his way, we’d be looking at the Blades of Chaos from Kratos’ eyes. That’s right, he wanted God of War III to be an FPS.

He’s bad-ass, he’s brutal, he just looks sick from every angle – and he can strike from any angle, too. That’s Kratos for you. But if God of War III art director, Ken Feldman, had his way, we’d be looking at the Blades of Chaos from Kratos’ eyes. That’s right, he wanted God of War III to be an FPS.

Through an interview with CGSociety, Feldman revealed that he brought the idea up to Stig Asmussen, lobbying to drop the third-person hack-and-slash to go for the first person shooter. “Kratos could have some truly badass huge weapons that rip gods to shreds,” he said, perhaps forgetting that Kratos already has bad-ass weaponry and has already taken two gods out with them, almost three.

“Unfortunately, he didn’t see the genius in the idea,” the art director said.

While a God of War-like FPS with lightning bolts and killer bows does sound like fun, I am seriously thankful Stig Asmussen didn’t go with the idea. Perhaps for a spin-off, yes. But if it’s climbing to Olympus to pwn Zeus, I’m definitely set on seeing Kratos do the honors in third person.

What about you guys?
