What’s annoying about next-gen? Here’s a top ten

360 boxesWith all this hype going on about these next-gen consoles, it’s rather easy to get lost in translation and just be blinded by whatever the advertising firms of the companies feed our minds. And because we are  anticipating the arrival of these babies (although the Xbox 360 already has arrived), we are so willing to overlook the little, and sometimes all too hassling, faults of the mother companies.

Over at unfetteredblather.com, we stumbled upon what looks like a blog of one Jason “Botswana” Cox, who, for what it’s worth, courageously revealed the top ten annoying things about next-gen. Or at least what he finds annoying. Just remember, this list was concocted by Cox, and is not from the personal opinions of QJ nor any of its bloggers. However, you may feel free to voice out your take on the matter, whether be it in agreement or in dissent. Anyway, this should be a great conversation piece.

According to him, the “top ten, silly, frustrating, and stupid things about ‘next-gen’ now” includes the waiting process for the actual arrival of the consoles, the “stupid name changes”, the lofty games prices, and the whole hullabaloo on backwards compatibility. Now, these are all self-explanatory. But, these aren’t all there is to it.

Cox seems bent on being unbiased, and thus includes all three gaming giants in his annoying list. On Microsoft, he basically rants about the fact that it is currently leading the pack, and for some reason, it irks him. Says he, “No matter how you look at it, Microsoft has essentially placed the next generation on their terms. Everyone else has to play catch up.” He’s also tagged the company as having a multiple personality disorder for releasing titles on the Xbox 360, Xbox, and PC all at the same time.

Nintendo. Well, he finds it annoying that it’s playing smarter this generation. But the top spot goes to none other than Sony and, as he’s tagged it, it’s alternate reality. He takes a shot at Sony’s unrelentless pursuit for all other electronics companies to follow their lead as to their format. He wouldn’t have mind, had the consoles been out already.

Well, I don’t really know about you guys. But while the list appears to be subjectively reasonable, I’d have to say all that’s personally in my list is the whole waiting part for the consoles. And that’s it. As long as I get my own within this lifetime, as to all those other annoying things, I could just shake it off and say, “Frankly dear, I don’t give a damn.”
