What’s your World of Warcraft character?

In a WoW Insider article about characters that fit our personality, the author discusses why her lower-leveled character was more fun to use than her higher-leveled Warlock. This got me intrigued, so I took the initiative and went on to take the “Your WoW Character” quiz on MySpace myself. I ended up being a Gnome Warrior. I took the test multiple times and ended up with the same result.

I studied the description of the character and realized that while I play a Tauren Shaman in Blizzard‘s World of Warcraft, my in-game strategies/tendencies actually match the description. The quiz itself is strangely accurate as our editor also took the test and ended up as a Human Priest. It’s pretty accurate given my perception of his personality, (he chose to be an Elvish hunter though). While some would say that they found a character that fit their personality, we’d prefer to believe that we mold our characters to our personality.

More often than not, when we pick our first character, we don’t know what to do so we just end up tired of playing a weak character. With our second character we then decide to make it as powerful as humanly possible because we can’t have fun with a weak character right? As time goes on though, we begin to realize that there’s more to playing the game than simply being powerful.

Our personalities begin influencing the decisions that we make with regards to leveling, stat point allocation, and even equipment. Some take this further than others while a few would stick with their preset plans. By the time we choose our third character, we have already narrowed down how we want to play the game, so we decide accordingly.

Of course, there are some players who picked one character when WoW came out and till today still feel that it is their favorite character. I am one such player, but I sometimes find myself acting out of character with regards to my Shaman (I chose engineering, how OOC is that right?)

So what character are you? Do you find yourself molding your character to your personality, or do you find that certain characters appeal to you more than others because it just fits perfectly?
