Wii demand gives Game Group a reason to smile

The growing demand for the Nintendo Wii has given British retailer Game Group Plc a boost in its sales. According to the latest reports, the high sales of the Wii sent its shares up eight percent. Said Game Group, “The PC and video games market has grown strongly in this period… Consumer demand remains strong for all formats, particularly for the Nintendo Wii.”

Analysts predict that the retailer could look forward to even better sales this coming Christmas. Game Group did mention, however, that “the UK trading environment … continues to be very competitive with retailers expanding their PC and video games offer to capitalise on the growing market.” While expecting to see the Wii and DS selling strong this Christmas, they hinted at the likelyhood of Sony cutting the price of the PS3.

With rising sales around the globe and greater demand for gaming consoles, particularly the Wii, it might be prudent to think ahead and figure out when to purchase your own before the big rush.
